MORE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT DIABETES MELLITUS

Diabetes mellitus, in short known as Diabetes is a disease in which the blood sugar or blood glucose level is high. Glucose is the outcome of the food we eat and insulin is the hormone that helps the glucose to get into the cells to give them energy. There are different types of diabetes depending on various factors like how the glucose/insulin is produced and distributed. Some of the diabetes types are Type 1, Type 2, Prediabetes, Gestational diabetes and so on.

Description about diabetes type:

If the diabetes is diagnosed Type 1, then it means body does not produce insulin. If it is Type 2, then it means the body is not producing or using the insulin well. Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes in which without having enough insulin, the glucose will stay in the blood. Another type is prediabetes, in which blood sugar level is higher than normal but not that much high to be called as diabetes. Having prediabetes leads to the increasing the risk of getting Type 2 diabetes. If diabetes is identified in a pregnant woman then it is called as Gestational Diabetes.

Over the time, if the glucose level is more in the blood then it leads to severe problems like damage to nerves, kidneys and eyes. It can also cause stroke, heart disease or removal of limb. Diabetes can be identified by undergoing a blood test like A1C, ACE blood test. This disease can be controlled by sticking to proper diet, weight control and exercising. You should closely monitor the blood glucose level and take medicine appropriately
