Surya Namaskara

Surya Namaskara

Surya Namaskara, as the name sounds is a mere salutation to Sun. But, let me emphasise on the history and benefits of performing Suryanamaskar day in and day out. Yoga is an important aspect which has been echoing in everyone’s fitness routine and Surya Namaskara is a brilliant way to start up your early morning routine or you can also make it a part of your warm up routine; why not?

One has to be on an empty stomach and follow the breathing (inhale and exhale) process for effective results.

To start up with, it is a combination of 12 steps which has to be done as mentioned in the below sequence and believe me it hardly takes about 5-6 min to complete one cycle involving twelve steps:

  1. Pranamasana Prayer pose
  2. Hastauttanasana
  3. Hasta Padasana
  4. Ashwa Sanchalanasana
  5. Dandasana
  6. Ashtanga Namaskara
  7. Bhujangasana
  8. Adho Mukha Svanasana
  9. Ashwa Sanchalanasana
  10. Hasta Padasana
  11. Hastauttanasana
  12. Tadasana
