Apple Cider Vinegar, Shortly known as ACV is a kind of vinegar, prepared from apple must or cider and has a medium amber color. This special tasting vinegar is used in preparing chutneys, dressing salads, vinaigrettes, marinades and also used in food preservatives. It is made by squashing apples and squeezing out its liquid. To this liquid, yeast and bacteria are added to start the process of alcoholic fermentation, and alcohol is formed. With the help of the aceto-bacter (acetic acid-forming bacteria), the alcohol is converted into Apple cider vinegar.
ACV helps in weight loss
To test this idea, a detailed study and test was conducted in Japan, where 175 healthy cum obese people were asked to consume water or vinegar for 12 weeks. Other than water or vinegar, the regular diet remained same. The food journals were also kept and at the end of the 12th week, the people who had consumed vinegar had reduced their weight considerably when compared with people who consumed water. On an average 1-2 pounds weight can be lost by the intake of vinegar along with your regular diet.
Blood sugar and Apple Cider Vinegar
In addition to weight loss, Apple Cider Vinegar also helps in controlling blood sugar and diabetes. A nutritionist Carol Johnston has been studying about ACV for more than 12 years and proved that the effects of ACV in controlling the blood sugar level is equivalent to certain medications. She explains that some of the starch digestion is blocked by vinegar, also she says the vinegar doesn’t block 100% starch, but prevents some amount being digested as a result of which blood sugar level will be raised.
In this way, Apple Cider Vinegar is helpful in reducing blood sugar level, weight loss and treating diabetes. Include ACV in your balanced diet and enjoy its full benefits on the above mentioned points.
